Dr. Obinna Tochukwu Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, is a Nigerian entrepreneur, philanthropist, and innovator whose ventures span hospitality, real estate, technology, and lifestyle. Born on April 12, 1975, in Oba, Anambra State, he graduated with a degree in Political Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1998. In 2006, he launched Ibiza Nightclub in Abuja, laying the foundation for the Cubana Group—a hospitality empire encompassing renowned establishments like Grand Cubana Hotels, Hustle and Bustle, etc.
Beyond hospitality, Obi Cubana has diversified into the beverage industry with Odogwu Bitters and into real estate through Casa Cubana. He also launched Cubana FMCG, which has some products which have now become household names, such as Odogwu Hammer, Odogwu Malay, and Odogwu Hush. He has collaborated and partnered with esteemed brands like Laurent-Perrier and Sageitude Wines, and launched Friends and Family wines. His commitment to innovation is evident in ventures like Enviable Group, involved in e-hailing services, Trucking Logistics, sale of Tricycles as well as engine oils and spare parts , and Vaib Technology, which offers smart gadgets. As the “Samsung Icon” for Samsung West Africa, he bridges global tech with African markets. But the thrill doesn’t stop there. Obi Cubana also ventured into the realm of gaming technology, as the Chairman of Hammer Games – unleashing Africa’s most immersive gaming experience. Recognized for his contributions, he received an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from Enugu State University of Science and Technology in 2022. His philanthropic efforts include the KIEK Foundation, co-founded with his wife, Ebele Iyiegbu, focusing on education and healthcare for underprivileged children.
